Motivational Monday; Not Everything is Shaped like a Square

Hello Readers and Happy Monday!

Dare-To-Be-Different-LogoNot every day is going to be shaped like a square, four even sides. Some days are going to bend a little more to the left, a little more to the right. Some days may seem like they are a circle that just keeps going. What should be so motivating about this is that every day is different. Last Monday might have been the worst. Last month but have been unbearable. However, that does not determine what this week will be like or what today will be like.

Hold on to the fact that everything is changing. Nothing stays the same. There will always be good days and there will always be bad days. Get motivated!

Do not worry about what it was like yesterday…get motivated that everyday is not the same!

How to Tuesday; How to Create a Landing Page

Hello readers!!

3594980022A landing page is a page where your readers, followers will land after they’ve clicked your link. Creating a landing page is extremely easy however, understanding why you should have one is the tricky part.

When we are asking for directions to a destination, we are hoping that the person giving the directions will give us point A and point B directions. Sometimes those directions come A.1 and A.2 and A.3. 1-3 is unnecessary. We just want to know what to do to specifically get there. This is exactly how your readers and followers feel.

If you are advertising your book, and you are giving away a discount or something and you want your readers to get there, you don’t want them to be stopped along the way. You want them to have clear instructions on what to do to receive the item. This is where a landing page comes into play.

You should have a link or page that is the final place the reader or follower needs to go to get to what they need. It’s as simple as that. When they click your link, it should tell them exactly what you were advertising. They shouldn’t get a ‘wait there’s more’ message. If you are giving them a free book, take them to the free book page so all they have to do is grab it.

So how do you create a landing page?

Simple (but first there’s more)

Your social media cannot be a landing page unless all you want them to do is to follow you on that social media page. Social media will cause people to go searching and we don’t want this when it comes to landing pages.

So, you need to make sure your landing page is coming from your website. You will create a separate page that’s all about what you are offering or what you want the reader or follower to do. On this page it should only include a sign up or purchase link or anything that’s hardly anything else you want them to do.

The goal for a landing page is for the reader or follower to simply land…and do nothing else.

Release Day Blitz Pied (Once Upon A Villain Book 7) by Brooklyn Knight

Pied Release Blitz Banner (1)

PiedABOUT THE BOOK

She cannot see me, but she can hear me; and that is all I’ll need to make her fall in love… with me.

Everything I’ve ever needed, is right here in my Paradise, including the whining brats I led away from their parents eons ago with my magical flute; but when that sorceress, Celeste Dubois, shows up and suggests that things need to change – that I need to change, I know she has lost her mind. That is, until she presents me with a brown beauty named Melodie, who awakens something deep inside me with her own music. I thought I had everything, but suddenly, I’m considering that maybe I don’t. I’m full of magic and music, but will those be enough to win Melodie’s heart? Especially when she learns that I’m the villain she despises from the folktales of old?

I can’t see him, but his music is like magic, and it restores my belief in true love.

Patrick appeared out of nowhere – not that I can actually see him, but the aura and the vibe he carries is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. Sometimes, I think I can actually see his radiance, and when he plays that flute of his, the sound is like healing magic. But my son, Rafael, has reservations. He says he recognizes Patrick from somewhere, though he’s not totally sure. Rafael is my eyes. I want to follow his lead, the way I always do, but Patrick is like magic, and his music is beckoning me closer…

How to Tuesday; How to Create the Perfect Pre Release Package

Hello Readers,

book-launchGetting ready to release a book is one of the most exciting things as an author. It doesn’t matter if you’ve released a book before or not, releasing your 100thbook compared to your 20this all the same. It’s like having a new baby even when you already have two.  So, when it comes to getting ready to release a book, it’s always a lot of fun.

There are so many fun things you can do to get ready for the release, book tours, blog tours, cover reveals, pre reviews etc. So how can you create the perfect pre-release package? Let’s discuss.

The first thing to sort out is what exactly you want to surround this release. Do you think doing a cover reveal will be more exciting for your book? Is your cover so captivating that people will want to purchase your book off the cover alone? Do a cover reveal.

What about a book tour? Are readers going to flock to you off your reading and presence that they will want to purchase your book for that reason alone? Do you have a good following? This might be the right move for you.

Blog tours are basically the same thing as a book tour, but from the comfort of your own home. Are you trying to gain new followers? Schedule a blog tour.

But, scheduling events is just the icing on the cake. Simple organizing and being prepared for the release goes a long away. Here are a few things you need to make sure are set in motion before the book releases.

  • Has the book been through several rounds of editing
  • Have you updated your website about your coming book
  • Are all social media platforms ready for the book you’ve been promoting since you’ve been writing
  • Have you created logos and graphics to help promote.
  • Is the cover finished
  • Has the synopsis been created
  • Is your bio updated
  • Have you started contacting the media about your release
  • Have you created a release date
  • Most importantly, have you budgeted for this release

If you can put together good events to surround your book and then put together a well-organized list to prepare for the release, you are well on your way to having the perfect pre-release package.

Motivational Monday; Organization to Stay on Task

Hello Readers and Happy Monday!

maxresdefaultOrganizing is very fun…to certain people. I, for one, love to organize and see things put into order. For me, organizing helps me stay on trask.

If you are like many people in today’s society, you struggle with staying on task. With so many things holding our attention, it’s hard to stay on task that’s why I suggest organizing to help you stay on task.

Lists are a great way to stay on task. If you have a list next to you, you are more than likely to glance at the list periodically to see what you have coming up next than to mentally wonder off on to something else.

You can also keep a timer or clock. Give yourself a deadline to work on one thing and one thing only.

Distraction free environment. If where you are working at is distraction free, you are more likely to stay on task.

These three things can help you stay on task and get the job done.

Guest Blogger: The Importance of Supporting Characters

Supporting characters are like the cherry on top of a sundae. They bring that extra comedy, drama, or anything else that can make a story that much greater. Supporting characters are one of my favorite types of characters to write and I’m going to give you five reasons why below!

  1. They Give You Someone Else to Write About:

I love main characters! You can throw an entire backstory and loads of emotions on them, but sometimes it helps to be able to take a break and add on a part of the story that does not center completely around the main character. Supporting characters allow you to do all of this while still adding on to your story and creating (hopefully) really great content.

  1. Support Your Main Character:

Whether it is good or bad support there is no denying that your supporting characters are going to help move the plot along. I bet you can think of at least one instance in a book you have read where a supporting character did something to set things off. Now, this might not always be a good thing, but they are still the ones that started the ball rolling in the first place.

On another note, they are also sometimes just there to lift up and support the main character. This part is perfect for best friends, cousins, parents, siblings, teachers, girlfriends/boyfriends, and so many other types of people.

  1. Give the Reader Someone Else to Relate To:

We can’t always relate to the main characters in our favorite books, but we can sometimes relate to the supporting characters. By having supporting characters, I believe that you are giving your readers more opportunities to relate to a character, which might make them like the book even better.

I’m not saying that your readers have to relate to at least one character to enjoy the story, but as a reader myself being able to picture myself as someone in the story really helps me connect with it.

  1. Round out the Story

Pride and Prejudice without Mr. Collins? The Hunger Games without President Snow? These two characters might not be the main ones, but they make the story what it is today. Your supporting characters are going to help round out the story and make it a much better work than if you wrote with only main characters. They are going to provide humor, drama, and so much more for your story.

  1. They’re So Much Fun to Create!

Whether it’s nice characters or super mean ones, I love creating supporting characters. They give you the chance to delve into the heart of someone that is not your main character and to create something that is truly new and exciting. They’re also not your main character so supporting characters give you the chance to concentrate on someone else in your story. Because let’s be realistic, sometimes our characters do the exact opposite of what we’d like them to do.

Love,

Baleigh
